Never tried rock climbing before? Curious? Perhaps you’ve climbed a few times in a gym and want to try the real thing?  This class is a great opportunity to get exposure to outdoor rock climbing in a safe, supportive, fun environment. You professional and certified climbing guides take care of setting up the ropes and providing a safe, supportive environment for the beginning rock climber. No climbing experience is necessary. In this class, providing you with your first outdoor climbing experience is the goal! Additionally, we’ll share the sense of adventure that drives our guides’ passion for the sport, and provide you with the most enjoyable first day of climbing possible. We’ll begin with an introduction to climbing gear, climbing commands, and climber tie-in knots. Then we’ll spend the remainder of our time climbing.  All your climbing gear is provided by Petzl.

Your packing list:  Flexible and comfortable clothing appropriate for the outdoors and weather, stable closed toed footwear for a short hike. Snack, water, and daypack to carry your personal items to the climbing area.

The climbing area is located at Castle Rock State Park. A shuttle will take you to the park from Sanborn regional park, where you will be met by your guide who will lead you on a short hike to the climbing site.

Also, you will have the opportunity to test out Smith's Lowdown Focus with EEG sensing technology and the SMITH Focus App while waiting for your next climb.
